  This project began so that my own family would have some of our history in my own words with many pictures to keep for future generations. However, this little book is for anyone who would enjoy a homespun tale of life in Waycross, Georgia,
during the 1940's and  1950's.

*My Reach family was and is a unique, colorful, humorous, tender, intelligent,
loving and sometimes off-beat clan.*

My hope is that you, the reader, will find something to make you reflect upon your own family, friends and childhood.  Although this is about a Southern family, it relates to anyone, anywhere because we all begin our life with someone dear to us. 

*As the circles in our life begin to grow, join, overlap and sometimes unlink, it is still our life, our own story.  Every person has a story to tell.*

If you are a True Southerner you will surely find some familiar and humorous stories throughout these tales; such as those of my father when he was a Government Revenue Agent known as a 'Revenuer.'  He would go into  places like the Okefenokee Swamp to roust out the  'Moonshiners' and  blow up their illegal 'White Lightening' Stills. 

There are many funny memories seen through the eyes of a child about my family of three boys, two girls, various and numerous animals, all held together by the love of our parents, Roy and Libby Reach.

We lived in simpler times with no televisions, no computers, no cell phones, not even electric typewriters.  We relied on our imagination and creativity to make our own entertainment.  It is just amazing how well it all worked.  We had a lot of ups and downs along the way, but nevertheless, we were family. 
Now those of you who are Other than Southern may scratch your head in puzzlement and disbelief.  I say to you, "Discover what you can and just go along for the ride!"

Please enjoy reading my little book.  Know that this endeavor comes from my heart, from my true memories, and was written with a love made possible by my being the youngest in this branch of the Reach Family.

Judy's Story of Decatur is next!

I am half way through this book about our Family years in Decatur, Georgia from 1952 to 1959. 

With my teen years coming on and lots of exciting changes with the Reach Family it has already been a joy to start remembering these most eventful years.

We may have moved to the city, but there is still a lot of small town and warm family thoughts to relate. Always with a touch of humor.
